About CBM Consultants

We introduce condition based maintenance to address costly and outdated maintenance practices.

Why we exist

In today's increasing demand for products in manufacturing and production companies, the reliability and efficiency of a company's plant and equipment is paramount.

Alongside ongoing workforce and skills shortages, company personnel face increased pressure to shift from reactive breakdown failures to being proactive in ensuring the availability and efficiency of plant and equipment — and so reducing production downtime.

Condition based maintenance has emerged as a key strategy in that transition, thanks to technological advances that are accepted and implemented internationally. CBM enables the shift from reactive to predictive maintenance, empowering personnel to predict and address potential failures before they occur.

Regular CBM surveys provide valuable insight, improving response times and reducing production and maintenance costs. As well as preventing production downtime and equipment damage, CBM eliminates premature component replacement and maintenance.

Experience and our field team

CBM Consultants has over 15 years of experience across the various on-site engineering disciplines of condition based maintenance.

Our certified technicians carry out the on-site surveys — capturing the accurate, repeatable frequency data, oil samples, infra-red imaging and ultrasound readings needed for the analysis and diagnostics that identify the root cause failures of components.

CBM advantages

  • Reducing production downtime
  • Saving repair costs
  • Saving spares costs
  • Saving abnormal labour costs — overtime and contractors
  • Increasing quality control and safety
  • Setting trends on machinery condition
  • Advance warnings of equipment defects
  • Root cause failure analysis

If a component or machine is susceptible to regular failures, it is advisable to increase the frequency of CBM surveys on it.

Our approach

Four disciplines, used together

These are the four engineering disciplines currently used to establish an efficient and effective CBM programme. They are often combined — vibration with laboratory oil sampling, for example — to establish latent root cause failures long before a reactive breakdown.

Alongside manual surveys we supply and commission wireless vibration sensors for data points that cannot safely or practically be reached by hand.
