Vibration Analysis & Diagnostics

Vibration is present in all rotational machinery. Recorded and analysed properly, it tells you what is wearing, what is misaligned, and what is about to fail.

How it works

Vibration reveals problems through data recorded with accelerometers, data recorders and analytical software. The specific frequencies recorded indicate wear and tear, or poor maintenance practices.

Vibration analysis also diagnoses latent defects that lead to equipment failure — before a reactive failure occurs. That means repair or refurbishment can be carried out at a convenient and suitable time, without affecting production.

Our certified technicians measure absolute and relative vibration on your machinery and compare it with historical baseline data. The detailed report includes findings for each asset, accompanied by analysis spectrums and a list of the actions required to address the faults found.

Example vibration spectrum An illustrative frequency spectrum showing a raised fundamental peak with harmonics, the pattern an analyst reads to identify a developing fault. 1× 2× 3× 4× Frequency → Amplitude

Why choose vibration analysis

Not just a tool — a strategic advantage

Early issue detection

Catch problems before they escalate, minimising downtime and preventing breakdowns.

Proactive maintenance

Address issues before they affect operations, reducing reactive fixes.

Optimised resources

Allocate resources efficiently, saving on labour, maintenance and costs.

Advantages

  • Save unplanned production downtime
  • Plan strategic outages
  • Streamline maintenance costs through preventive measures
  • Utilise labour efficiently — less unplanned overtime
  • Ensure availability of planned spares
  • Minimise risk of component damage
  • Predict root cause of failures well in advance of breakdowns

Faults we diagnose

  • Misalignment of components
  • Unbalance of components
  • Bent shafts
  • Eccentricity
  • Looseness
  • Bearing faults
  • Resonance
  • Cavitation
  • Hydraulic & aerodynamic faults
Equipment covered

Machine components we survey

  • Electrical motors
  • Hydraulic motors
  • Pumps — various types
  • Fans
  • Compressors
  • Centrifuges
  • Gearboxes
  • Bearings

This list is not exhaustive — if it rotates, it can be measured.

Combine disciplines for a fuller picture. Vibration analysis is frequently paired with laboratory oil analysis to establish latent root cause failures long before a breakdown occurs. Both can be covered in a single site visit.
